More will come, as VV (of course!) is once again up and posting, and I’ve got words to catch up on!!! Enjoy the latest installment of the Clifton Saga! 1 Peter 5:8 NIV

8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Lee smiled to himself as he thought of the night he and Sheila spent together. He loins felt warm, he —

Blam!

Everyone dove off the road. Lee ignored the sting in his back. On his elbows, he edged out of the weeds. In front of him were scenes of future nightmares. The soldier marching in front of Lee moments before now lay lifeless. His helmet floated in the marsh; his rifle was still clutched in his hands.

The drill sergant’s words the first day of basic finally hit home:

“Be ever alert, maggots, or the enemy will devour you!”
