To replace Friday’s Feast….Food 4 Thought Friday

I throughly enjoyed playing along with Friday’s Feast, however since July there have not been anymore posts by the chef (in fact, I just went and tried to load it to double check, and it’s not even there!!! Just the blog, where it was originally, at ). I found someone else who had been playing along, who instituted her own Friday meme along the same lines, at Beacon of Hope.

Food 4 Thought Friday ~ This week’s questions

How do you usually spend Thanksgiving?

Usually, we have family over—almost always my dad, though the first year my sister spent her Thanksgiving with her husband and his mom and sister, dad also went over there. We make the turkey ala Alton Brown’s Romancing the Bird, along with potatoes, and his Sweet Corn Pudding, plus corn and other assorted items. Pumpkin Pie, too.

This year, however, I’m thinking we’ll do something different. Or maybe thankfully there seems to be another alternative, because we just are not going to have the type of Thanksgiving we usually have. If we can’t do the alternative, we’ll have turkey sandwiches. (or maybe “sandwishes” would be about right too) The alternative is that the church is having a dinner at 1pm, and if there’s still room we’ll be going to that and (surprise) my dad will be coming too. It sounds intriguing to say the least 😀

What is the one thing you are most grateful for this year?

God. That I finally had the good sense and good fortune to turn my life back to Him, no matter how hard the struggle.

Do you usually shop on Black Friday or avoid it like the plague?

Avoid. It. Like. The. Plague.

Midnight Snack
What is your favorite part of the Thanksgiving feast?

Pumpkin Pie. Not when I was younger, but definitely now 😀

Recipe for this Week (instead of your recipe for life – what is it for just this week?)

Praying. A lot. And being genuinely surprised when my prayers are answered (whether I really meant it to be a prayer or not).
