100 Words – Blend

This is a long time coming. I started when Velvet first posted this word for the 100 Word Challenge, but I was really tripping over the possibilities. I had 2 just from the Clifton Saga for this one—this is actually the first of the 2—and I even had a poem relating to how I was feeling at the time, since it was really the start of my own recent funk. I’ve worked on this Clifton attempt, and now it rings true for me. I hope you enjoy it, and please go check out the Clifton Saga tab to get caught up to speed on them! 😀

As Phillip looked into her eyes, he felt a blend of excitement and fear.

How could he know this wouldn’t end up in ruin? If you live out the sins of your father—or your mother—how could he know this will end well?

She cocked her head to the side. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Then why are you looking at me like that?”

“I’m thinking.”

She waited for him to continue.

“I’m hoping this could be forever.” On one knee, he opened the hand with the small black box he’d kept in his pocket for weeks. “If you’ll have me.”
